Exploring Neighborhoods: Reynoldsburg

This event has ended, but don't worry we have a new forum each week!

Exploring Neighborhoods: The first in a series of discussions over the next several months spotlighting our Central Ohio neighborhoods. CMC will explore the rapidly changing business and residential development landscape, demographic make up, and unique challenges and opportunities taking place in Central Ohio’s cities.

On February 5th, 2021, Columbus Business First quoted developer, Joe Ciminello, “”Reynoldsburg is one of the most desirable markets in the nation and they offer quite a bit as a city, And they have a very progressive view on development.”” this in an article siting a possible 1400 increase in residences in the city this year. The vision Reynoldsburg embraced in 2018 to lead to this success is summed up by then Councilman Marshall Spalding, ““I hope that the development that the city will experience will enhance our lives and make the city more attractive for young families as well as seniors who want to make the city their home because it is a safe, comfortable and a friendly place to call home,”” (Spalding was quoted in an article in ThisWeek in 2018). Our panel will discuss the changing landscape of the once rural city, founded in 1839, which is the “Birthplace of the Tomato” and on the National Road just east of Columbus.

Featuring series host Amelia Robinson, Opinion and Community Engagement Editor, The Columbus Dispatch and Joe Begeny, Mayor, City of Reynoldsburg, Andrew Bowsher, Director of Development, City of Reynoldsburg, Department of Development and Melvin J. Brown, Superintendent, Reynoldsburg City Schools and Christine Logesky, Owner, 1883 Locale.
