    Ohio is now poised to earn its first-ever World Heritage status in the next few years for several American Indian earthworks in and around Central Ohio. The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks nomination would bring the highest international recognition possible for cultural or natural sites to our state, as well as the benefits of increased domestic and international tourism.

    Join Dr. Bradley Lepper, curator of archaeology at the Ohio History Connection, Melinda Huntley, executive director of the Ohio Travel Association, and Stacey Halfmoon, director of American Indian relations for the Ohio History Connection to learn more about bringing World Heritage status to Ohio. Matt MacLaren, the new director of TourismOhio, will host.

    Conversation 2018

    A provocative conversation with Bret Stephens and John Kasich

    Bret Stephens, Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times Columnist and NBC political analyst, will kick off Conversation 2018 with comments about current affairs, politics, and the US state of mind.

    Joining him on stage will be John Kasich. What’s next for Governor Kasich and what will he share with Stephens?

    Bret StephensBret Stephens is an Op-Ed Columnist for the New York Times as well as a political analyst for NBC. Prior to this, Mr. Stephens served as Editor-in-Chief of the Jerusalem Post and as a Foreign-Affairs Columnist for the Wall Street Journal, leading him to places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Gaza, where he interviewed dozens of world leaders. Stephens served eight years as the WSJ’s deputy Editorial-Page Editor, responsible for the newspaper’s global opinion section, as well as a member of the editorial board. In 2013, he won the Pulitzer Prize for distinguished commentary.

    He is also the author of America in Retreat: The New Isolationism and the Coming Global Disorder, published in 2014, hailed by former Secretary of State George Shultz as “wise counsel for a constructive, tough-minded, and sensible foreign policy.”

    John KasichJohn Kasich has served as the Governor of the State of Ohio since 2010 and will be term-limited in 2018. Governor Kasich ran for President in 2000 and 2016 and is a nine-term Congressman. He served on the House Armed Services Committee for 18 years and was chairman of the House Budget Committee for 6 years, when he was a key figure in the passage of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997.

    A four-time author, his most recent book, Two Paths: America Divided or United, is a New York Times best-seller.

    Conversation 2018 is the Columbus Metropolitan Club’s annual fundraiser event which enables the organization to continue to provide world class programming at its weekly forums, public television, and internet broadcasts.

    The Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries and the Columbus Metropolitan Club are pleased to present an evening with Dan Rather.

    Join us for a special evening with legendary journalist and author, Dan Rather, as he discusses his latest book, What Unites Us: Reflections on Patriotism.

    From politics, the media, current events, and our country’s most pressing issues—to inspiring words of wisdom on leadership, education, social justice, civic involvement, and the importance of philanthropy—Dan Rather speaks from the heart and treats audiences to a memorable encounter with a living legend.

    Scott Light, Anchor and Host of Face the State at WBNS 10-TV, will emcee and host the audience Q&A.

    Books will be available for purchase and signing following Mr. Rather’s presentation. There will also be a cash bar and pizza available for purchase.
