President & CEO, Children's Hunger Alliance
Michelle Moskowitz Brown, President and CEO at Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA), has built her not-for-profit leadership over the past 30 years. Brown is driven by a commitment to building healthier communities and the belief that everyone should have the resources to eat well. Her personal history of living with food insecurity and her family’s experience with diet-related diseases fuel her passion for this work.
In 2024, Ms. Brown led her team to provide almost 11 million nutritious meals to nearly 160,000 children across Ohio in collaboration with over 1,800 partners in 76 counties. She brings her deep knowledge of Ohio’s food resources and needs to bear in providing food and nutrition education directly to children in childcare, at school, in after-school and summer programs, and at home on the weekends.
From 2014 to 2023, Brown was the Executive Director at Local Matters, where she implemented food access and education programming in Central Ohio and led food planning efforts in partnership with Columbus and Franklin County, elevating food plans alongside basic needs such as housing and transportation.
She is the past chair of the Ohio Food Policy Network, a statewide coalition dedicated to a food system that supports and serves all Ohioans, and was a founding member of the Columbus & Franklin County Local Food Board.
Before her work in food, Brown worked in the arts and community development in her hometown of New York City. She has a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from OSU’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs, a BA from Antioch College, and completed coursework in Urban Planning at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service.
