Jason Jenkins currently serves as the Chief Diversity Officer and Executive Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for Mayor Andrew J. Ginther in the City of Columbus. In this role, he provides strategic oversight and policy leadership to advance supplier diversity, workforce inclusion, and equity initiatives across city government. Under his direction, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion drives the Mayor’s vision to make Columbus “America’s Opportunity City,” ensuring that every individual, family, and community shares in the city’s economic prosperity. 

Previously, Jason served nearly six years as Director of Community Affairs in the Mayor’s Office. In that capacity, he championed transparency, accountability, and civic engagement by fostering open dialogue with residents and building trusted relationships throughout Columbus neighborhoods. 

Before joining the City of Columbus, Jason was Director of Regional Advancement at The Ohio State University, where he helped shape a comprehensive development strategy to expand access to affordable higher education across the Midwest and East Coast. 

Jason’s early career includes impactful roles with the YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, where he deepened his expertise in inclusive community engagement and relationship building—skills he continues to apply through service on boards and committees. He currently serves on the City of Columbus Community Benefits Agreement Advisory Committee, The North Market Development Authority Board of Trustees, the African-American Alumni Network at Otterbein University, and The Lincoln Theatre Board. 

He holds an MBA from Franklin University and dual bachelor’s degrees—a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Computer Science—from Otterbein University. Jason is also a Columbus Business First C-Suite Award honoree and Outstanding Diversity Champion honoree, a graduate of the African-American Leadership Academy, and is Lean Six Sigma Certified.
