Smith Weir is the Deputy Chief of the Columbus Division of Police, bringing over 26 years of dedicated service to the force in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area. Since March 2022, he has held the position of Deputy Chief, following a steady progression through leadership roles—serving as Police Commander (Dec 2019–Feb 2022), Lieutenant (Jun 2015–Dec 2019), Sergeant (Jan 2011–Jun 2015), and starting out as a Police Officer from December 1999 to January 2011. A graduate of Ohio University, Smith earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (1992–1997).
