Consultant, Reputation Management Associates (RMA)

Bill Patterson is a nationally known media expert with over 43 years of experience. He began his career as a newscaster in 1962 and was quickly named News Director of WTVN Radio, Columbus. Patterson remained the city’s top-rated news executive until he left broadcasting in l984 to become Vice President of Reputation Management at HMS Partners, at the time, the largest communications agency in Ohio. In l998, Patterson formed Reputation Management Associates (RMA) to concentrate on media training, speech coaching and crisis consulting. He sold the firm in 2005, but remains a consultant to RMA.
Patterson holds a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University. He has taught journalism at Ohio State University and Otterbein College, and served as a guest lecturer at Ohio University. He has received over 30 journalism and public relations awards during his career as a professional communicator. He has had dozens of articles published in various national publications and is the author of the booklet, How to Use the News Media to Your Advantage.
