CEO, South Side Early Learning
Colin Page McGinnis, by his own admission, hasn’t had a conventional path to nonprofit
leadership. At the time being one of Columbus’ youngest CEOs, Page McGinnis assumed the helm
at South Side Early Learning in 2018. From the outset, Page McGinnis saw the promise of infusing
innovation into a legacy organization that had been serving littles—a term used by Page McGinnis
endearingly as a reminder that young children are “little people” deserving all the same respect we
would give adults—families on the South Side of Columbus for nearly 100 years.
Under his leadership South Side Early Learning has refined its program model, expanded direct
service offerings, diversified revenue streams, and developed two innovation programs: a social
enterprise professional development training institute, Project NUDL, and the upcoming Center for
Early Childhood Innovation. Page McGinnis’ innovation, approach to nonprofit management, and
work in early education and child care has been recognized by CityPulse which named him one of
the magazines “19 Nonprofit Innovators,” ColumbusCEO as a member of the inaugural
“Future50” class, and the Ohio State University’s College of Education and Human Ecology’s 2020
New Leader Alumni Award recipient.
Through his vision for Central Ohio, Page McGinnis believes Columbus’ entrepreneurial spirit is
just the place to reimagine what early education and child care can be; using learning and play as
the mechanism to break cycles of systemic inequality and poverty—ensuring every child has the
opportunity to lifelong success.
Before joining South Side Early Learning, Page McGinnis served as the Director of Policy,
Advocacy, and Research for Being Black at School. Page McGinnis earned a bachelor’s degree in
Human Development and Family Science with Research Distinction in Teaching and Learning from
The Ohio State University, and master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of
Nebraska—Lincoln. He is currently finishing his Ph.D. at the Ohio State University in Human
Development and Family Science. Page McGinnis lives with his husband, Chris, two dogs, and cat
in Downtown Columbus.
