In 2022, Daniel Walshaw was appointed by the Columbus Symphony Board of Trustees to serve as the head of the orchestra and be named as Chief Operating Officer.

Daniel was most recently served as Vice President of Operations for the Columbus Symphony for nearly four years prior, helping to lead the orchestra to new heights of growth and artistic excellence, including notable achievements through the COVID-19 pandemic when the CSO earned national recognition for its commitment to keep the livelihoods of musicians and staff whole and developing new channels of accessibility to music in the central Ohio community. Prior roles with the CO include Director of Artistic Planning and Business Development and Executive Assistant to the Music Director.

Before coming to Columbus, Ohio, Daniel served as the Artistic Administrator and Chief Librarian at the KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic in Durban, South Africa. From 2010 to 2013, he served as Music Director for the National Institutes of Health Community Orchestra in Bethesda, Maryland.

Daniel grew up in Okemos, Michigan and currently loves near Franklin Park with his wife Joanna, two sons Elliot and Julian, and Labrador mix, Zula.
