Director of Economics, Huntington National Bank
An economist with over 25 years of experience, Dr. George Mokrzan is Director of Economics for Huntington National Bank. In that capacity, he provides economic analysis and commentary to management and clients, giving them insight into the global economy as well as the local economies served by Huntington. Dr. Mokrzan first joined Huntington in 1996. He has been recognized as an important source to turn to for commentary on employment, manufacturing and international trade and its impact on the Midwest.
Previously, Dr. Mokrzan was both the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Economic Advisory Committee of the American Bankers’ Association. For 10 years he served on this national committee that meets regularly with policy officials. He is a panelist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Livingston Survey and also serves on the CNN Money Economist Poll.
Prior to his career at Huntington, he was the senior economist covering Australia and New Zealand for WEFA, Inc., an economic consulting firm in Philadelphia. Immediately out of graduate school, he taught economics in the S.U.N.Y. system.
Dr. Mokrzan earned a doctorate in economics from Duke University in 1990, with a specialization in macroeconomics, international economics and econometrics. He earned a master’s degree in economics from Duke University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Rochester.
