Executive Director, Utility Scale Solar Energy Coalition
Jason Rafeld is the founding Executive Director of the Utility Scale Solar Energy Coalition of Ohio. USSEC is a non-profit organization promoting responsible development of utility scale solar in Ohio representing developers, manufacturers and industry leaders. Jason is responsible for the growth, policy, strategy and direction of the organization to meet clean energy demands and drive economic development benefiting Ohio’s communities, schools and rural landowners. Utility scale solar was non-existent in Ohio prior to 2020 and now there are over 40 active projects under development with more coming that will generate billions of dollars in economic impact.
Previously, Jason has represented numerous organizations and individuals as their legal counsel. He has also served as the Chief of Staff for the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio and for the Ohio Department of Education and as General Counsel for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Jason is a former U.S. Naval Officer.
In his free time, Jason enjoys storing and frequently repositioning his motorcycle, golf clubs, camera equipment and kayak because he hasn’t had time to actually use any of them in over a year. He lives with his wife, identical twin five year old daughters and golden retriever in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
