Kevin’s eclectic Regulatory practice touches a wide variety of business sectors and is unified by a common tie: All of his clients operate businesses that are highly regulated by federal, state, and/or local government agencies. From agribusiness to sports betting and from commodity trading to exchanging and transmitting of cryptocurrency, Kevin’s clients look to him to help them stay in compliance with complex regulations and to defend them against allegations of non-compliance.

With nearly 25 years of legal experience, Kevin’s deep knowledge of his clients’ business operations, paired with his understanding of the approach regulators take to permitting those operations and enforcing compliance with their regulations, enables Kevin to confidently identify efficient solutions to almost any obstacle, problem, or issue a client faces, especially novel problems and issues that few businesses have ever encountered.  To the maximum extent possible, Kevin’s approach is to identify and address potential obstacles and problems before they become manifest so that his clients can focus their resources on maximizing opportunities that grow their businesses.

In Ohio, agribusiness clients frequently look to Kevin for his experience representing large scale agricultural operations in the area of livestock permitting and communicating and negotiating with both state and local governments, neighbors, citizens groups, and other members of the national agribusiness community. He has experience representing clients in cases involving regulatory issues relating to livestock permitting, water, wetlands, air, solid and hazardous waste, and underground storage tank compliance and closure. Kevin’s clients are involved in a broad range of businesses, including egg production, dairy production, row crop farming, manufacturing, mineral aggregate mining,  construction, real estate, and transportation.  He also is experienced in assisting clients that operate as agricultural cooperatives with specialized business counseling under the Ohio Cooperative Law.

In the technology space, Kevin’s attention is mostly focused with an emphasis on sports betting, esports gaming, daily fantasy sports, and other gaming and blockchain related legal issues. Kevin advises clients with respect to licensing, record-keeping, and compliance with state and federal law, including the Wire Act of 1961 , the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, and gambling laws, rules, and regulations in all 50 states and Australia and Europe. He also has defended governmental enforcement actions, and has drafted statutory gaming language for proposed state gaming laws. His research and knowledge of the economics of network effects and two-sided matching markets add value to his clients’ business strategies in this space.

Kevin’s passion for gaming and software development has led to a number of interesting ventures, including the invention and patenting of an electronic system and exchange that enables educational institutions to manage economic risks associated with intercollegiate athletic and educational programs. He also has authored a number of articles relating to both quantitative analysis and regulation in sports. Additionally, Kevin maintains a website (www.quantcoach.com) dedicated to objectively quantifying and analyzing NFL coaching through the prism of economic Growth Theory and he is a frequent guest on podcasts, such as the “Edward Egros Podcast” hosted by the Fox4 Weekend Sports Anchor in Dallas, Texas.
