Mark Barbash is an instructor in public budgeting, public finance and nonprofit financial leadership in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. He also teaches nonprofit budgets and financing in the Management Advancement for Public Service (MAPS) program. In 2023, Mark was named Outstanding Undergraduate Instructor by the Glenn College.
Barbash has over 30 years of experience in economic development, serving in roles such as director of development for Columbus and chief economic development officer for Ohio. He is the founder and director of the Ohio Economic Development Institute. Barbash is a nationally recognized economic developer, serving on boards including the International Economic Development Council.
He has had a lifelong interest in the theater and is currently president of the Board of the Short North Stage. He has received the Fellow Member designation from the International Economic Development Council and SBA’s Small Business Finance Advocate award.
Barbash holds a degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and lives in Bexley, Ohio, with his wife.
