Stephen L. McIntosh

Judge, Franklin County Court of Common Pleas

Judge Stephen McIntosh is a graduate of the Moritz College of Law. He was President of the
Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and received the Judge Joseph Harter Trial Advocacy
Award.

Judge McIntosh has been employed with the Columbus City Attorney’s Office as an assistant
city prosecutor, Deputy Director of the UCC Division with Secretary of State Sherrod Brown, an
associate with Crabbe, Brown, Jones, Potts and Schmidt, (now Crabbe Brown and James) and
Chief Prosecutor for the City of Columbus.

He is the current Administrative Judge and Drug Court judge in the TIES program (Treatment is
Essential to Success).

Judge McIntosh is a past president of the Columbus Bar Association. He is also a member of the
John Mercer Langston Bar Association, and the OSBA, where he served on the Board of
Governors and currently with the Council of Delegates.

Judge McIntosh served as chair of the Supreme Court Task Force to Examine Improvements to
Ohio’s Grand Jury System, as a member of the Supreme Court Advisory Committees on Dispute
Resolution, Chair of the CLE Commission, Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Interpreter
Services, Board Chair of Alvis, Inc and co-chair of the Joint Task Force to Study the
Administration of Ohio’s Death Penalty.

He is the current chair of the OLAP board, member of the Ohio Sentencing Commission and the
Gahanna Y. Judge McIntosh served as legal advisor for the Marion Franklin High School Mock
Trial team for 15 years.

He has been recognized by Columbus Monthly Magazine and Who’s Who Among African
Americans in Central Ohio and is a recipient of the David White Award.

Judge McIntosh is married to Dr. Sara A. McIntosh, MD. They have three adult children. He is a
Deacon at Second Baptist Church.
