CMC President & CEO Jane Scott: In a year of way too many forums with titles that included words such as broken, crisis, war, untangling, attack, epidemic, investigations, among others, I was refreshed by our forum on Columbus restaurants. The April 13 forum "Columbus Restaurants: What’s Hot, What’s New, and Who’s Still Thriving?" featuring restaurant reviewers Rich Terapak, Steve Stover, and Jim Budros, with host Ann Fisher, was a welcomed reminder of the finer things we are privileged to enjoy in our community. While mentioning several establishments that fell victim to COVID, the conversation focused on the many new restaurants and old favorites that are flourishing. The pandemic teased out new trends in outdoor seating and rooftop bars, as well as gardens and more spacious dining experiences. Good food, good friends, and good fellowship still abound in our lives. For this, I am indeed grateful and very happy to include this uplifting toping on our CMC stage in 2022!

CMC VP of Member & Sponsor Relations Lanie Cuthbert: "In my opinion, one of the most impactful forums of the year was on March 9, "Organizational Leaders in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion". We host such informative forums every week and are lucky to have so many excellent subject matter experts, but this one in particular spoke to me because it made concrete the efforts local business and non-profit leaders were making in this important space. At the time, many were talking about the need for DEI, and hiring DEI experts, but we hadn’t checked in to hear about the progress. The speakers made it clear that DEI must come from the ”top down” and interwoven in all aspects of the business/organization and tracked with solid data. Many attendees I spoke to upon departure noted that the content of the discussion would definitely inform their own organizations’ efforts in the DEI arena. That type of comment always makes me very proud! To know that a CMC forum has had this type of impact makes all of our work to provide community conversation worth it."
CMC VP of Operations Montra Moody's Favorite Event of 2022
CMC VP of Operations Montra Moody: "The Members First Arts Tour in Franklinton on October 13 was probably my favorite event of 2022 because there was so much I didn't know. I really enjoyed all the murals and learned so much about the art scene and artists in Franklinton. "The Slingshot" sculpture was amazing and I had no clue it existed."
CMC VP of Programming Doug Buchanan's Favorite Forum of 2022
CMC VP of Programming Doug Buchanan: "My favorite forum this year was Conversation 2022 on July 13, featuring Michael Tomasky. Having the editor of The New Republic onstage to talk about the history of American political polarization with WOSU's Mike Thompson was such a treat. Michael reminded us that since the '90s, American society has often been extremely polarized - the 1790s, that is! This forum reminded me of what it was like to listen to a really great history lecture in college by a top professor. Miss those days!"
CMC Markdeing & Design Contractor Amanda L. Sage's Favorite Forum of 2022
CMC Markdeing & Design Contractor Amanda L. Sage: "CMC did a special Friday forum on March 18 called "Europe at War: The Russian Invasion of Ukraine", and this was special for me for two reasons. First, I am a trained international political scientist and these kinds of forums are the most intellectually stimiulating for me. But second, and more emotionally, my last trip abroad before the pandemic was in Kyiv and Kharkiv, Ukraine, and I'd made several friends there. At the beginning of the war, I think so many of us were just craving news and information and I loved bringing it home to a Columbus level, too."
