Special Report: Police Chief Talks Safety During Corona

Appointed by Mayor Andrew Ginther in December 2019 after an extensive 10-month search, Columbus Police Chief Thomas Quinlan has served the division for more than 30 years. Likely well-prepared to handle a wide variety of dangers, it’s highly unlikely Chief Quinlan was expecting an adversary named “Corona.”   The unique circumstances surrounding stay-at-home orders, closed businesses and schools are creating equally unique policing challenges and opportunities. How is the Columbus Division of Police adapting to our community where the streets, businesses and schools are empty but homes and neighborhoods are full? Dawn Tyler Lee will join Chief Quinlan on stage at CMC. Upon his election, Mayor Ginther appointed Tyler Lee Deputy Chief of Staff for External Affairs at the City of Columbus and she led the search committee that conducted a national search, and ultimately recommended Quinlan as Chief.
