Music as a Driver of Cultural and Economic Vitality

This event has ended, but don't worry we have a new forum each week!

Music and the performing arts can be a great driver of cultural and economic vitality. Look no further than cities such as Nashville, Austin, and New Orleans, whose names are synonymous with musical history, spurring tourism and chances for economic growth.

Columbus itself has a rich history of the performing arts. In the Theater District we have The Palace, The Ohio, The Southern and The Lincoln and more, bringing residents and guests everything from ballet to opera to avant garde plays. The Wexner Center for the Arts showcases dance, theater and musical shows featuring artists from around the world. The Columbus Symphony brings fans together in the Commons, and there’s also Nationwide Arena, The Schottenstein Center, Express Live and more that attract popular artists year-round.

With this constant hum of music pulsing through our city, there is an opportunity to capitalize on the culture that our city offers to promote not only Columbus, but also careers in music right here in Columbus, whether it’s promotion, publishing or performing.

Featuring Jack Marchbanks, Ph.D., Director, ODOT, and host of Jazz Sunday, WCBE, Bruce Garfield, Executive Director, Columbus Music Commission, Scott Stienecker, CEO, PromoWest Productions, and Amber Knicole, Vocalist and Actor, MojoFlo Music Productions.
