Ohio’s Prosperity Linked to Workforce

This event has ended, but don't worry we have a new forum each week!

Experts say that we may never have experienced a labor market such as this, pointing to the unusual mix of high-tech to low-tech jobs that are fueling demand and creating job shuffling, following a pandemic that upended the world of work.  With the recent announcement of the Intel investment in central Ohio, combined with an already tight job market and continued business growth, workers are enjoying a boom market, while businesses are worried.

Hourly compensation is at an all-time high, and unemployment is the lowest in the past twenty years.  The number of job postings has tripled this year and it’s projected that the 153 million jobs in 2020 could climb to 165 million by 2030.

Where will businesses find workers?  Will they be qualified, well-trained, and willing to do the work required and pay rates employers can afford?  What are schools, universities, and trade schools doing to fill the pipeline?  What government policies might help or hinder the search for workers?  CMC’s March 23 forum looks at these and many other questions with former Congressman and President and CEO of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce Steve Stivers, Ola Snow, Chief Human Resources Officer, Cardinal Health, and host Lisa Patt-McDaniel, President and CEO, Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio.
