The New Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan

This event has ended, but don't worry we have a new forum each week!

Harrison Smith Legacy in Civic Engagement Fund — Recognizing Excellence in Downtown Development & Smithy Awards

Can a new plan change Downtown Columbus’s trajectory and result in an urban space that’s denser, greener, and more attractive to residents and workers? Downtown Columbus will reach 40,000 residents by 2040, if the new strategic plan for the city hits its goal, an ambitious increase of more than 250% in fewer than two decades.

The new Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan, created with help from nearly 2,000 community members who attended workshops and responded to surveys, also outlines a vision for a downtown that’s more livable, friendlier to pedestrians, and reduces surface parking. The plan, created by the Downtown Commission, calls for more trees, protected bike lanes, more public art, and at least 120,000 people working downtown within 18 years. The final plan is slated to be presented to Columbus City Council by year’s end.

Join us as we dig into the new Downtown Columbus Strategic Plan through a conversation guided by an expert panel featuring Jeff Edwards, Chairman, CEO & President, Installed Building Products and Edwards Companies, Greg Davies, Chief Executive Officer, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation, and Michael B. Coleman, Partner-in-Charge, Government Law Group, Ice Miller, and Former Mayor, City of Columbus, with host Jessica Ralston, Anchor, Good Day Columbus, WSYX ABC 6.
