ENCORE White Lies: The Truth About Segregation in America (2018)

This event has ended, but don't worry we have a new forum each week!

This forum was originally presented and recorded on March 7, 2018.

Segregation in America was perpetuated by government policies of the mid-twentieth century, according to Richard Rothstein, author of The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. Rothstein will be the featured speaker at the next CMC forum on March 7. He will present a mini-keynote and then participate in a panel discussion. Rothstein believes “We, all Americans, bear a collective responsibility to enforce our Constitution and to rectify past violations whose effects endure.” He bluntly states that “We have created a caste system in this country, with African American kept exploited and geographically separate by racially explicit government policies.” He argues that although many of the laws are no longer current, their effects have endured multiple generations.

Featuring “The Color of Law” author Richard Rothstein, Lawrence Funderburke, former OSU and NBA basketball star, and the author of  Sociopsychonomics”and Noceeba Southern, administrative law judge, former state court judge and federal prosecutorTim Feran, journalist, The Columbus Dispatch, will host.
